TACTILE WOODS

These are advanced veneers that have a thicker surface, crafted by hand with a saw to achieve a naturally rough texture. Their thickness makes them also suitable for countertops, while the rough feel makes them ideal not only for contemporary design but also for more traditional and classic styles. Tactile woods are extremely versatile: it is possible to create parallel grooves to give the door a more traditional look.

MINIMAL. FEATURED IN THE TRANSFORMERS 3 MOVIE: THE BAD GUY`S KITCHEN

MINIMAL’s cutting edge design featuring a high tech sliding countertop is the perfect fit for Ryan’s, contemporary kitchen in Transformers 3 - Dark of the Moon. With unique Italian sense of aesthetics and commitment to custom design, MINIMAL tailors a kitchen space that perfectly portrays the character’s personality: provocative for its sensual lightness and intimidating for its clean lines. Designed by Stefano Venier, the kitchen stems out as a full-relief sculpture in the middle of Ryan`s enviable apartment. The focal point of the room is the island, a unique example of technology, design and functionality. Through an electronic movement, the hand crafted Thermo Oak top can be either opened up to serve as an entertainment table or closed to hide the brushed stainless steel countertop, the soldered sink and the retractable faucet.

1961, Italy. The beginning of a new era of Italian design dominance is marked by the launch of Abitare, the magazine that would go on to lead the movement. Rizzoli New York is proud to commemorate half a century of this revolutionary lifestyle magazine.
Abitare: 50 Years of Design reproduces the best pages from the annals of the publication from its founding to today, reflecting the major designs and trends over the years. Covering a wide range of topics including contemporary design, lifestyle, and modern architecture, this first ever compendium of the magazine is especially relevant for its reporting of the 60s and 70s that are currently being revisited for inspiration in all design fields ranging from interiors to fashion.
Contributors to the book, including senior curator of Design at the MoMA Paola Antonelli, are all former editors of Abitare, and are now considered arbiters of style and design worldwide. Their new essays, along with the classic original articles reproduced in full in English and Italian constitute an important milestone in the analysis and appreciation of design.
